Clouseau after clipping practice
In April, our beautiful Oldenburg colt, Clouseau, was born! Since then, he has grown quite a bit and is now beginning to shed his baby coat. He’s learning how to stand still for clipping and baths, and he loves all the attention. He can be seen at the Kentucky Horse Park on July 10th for a KDA show where he will be competing in hand, and also at Lakeside Arena on August 10th during an Oldenburg inspection. We’re sure he’ll do great and look forward to traveling with him!
Clouseau was born on April 28th, 2016. He is by Calucci and out of Ocala Spy, and has immediately become the star of DeLima Stables! We are so thankful that he is both happy and healthy, and look forward to watching him grow! More information on him can found on our Sales page, and the most recent pictures of him can be found on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
This year, we hosted a shorter version of our summer camp during fall break. A small group of students came to ride and learn more about horses, including an anatomy lesson. Due to the rain keeping us indoors, we got a bit creative… We used washable finger paint on Hank and Cookie! The students were given the name of a part of the horse, and they had to identify it with their finger paint. The kids had a great time and learned about horse anatomy, and how different body parts help the horse move. Our horses loved all attention the from these young riders!
We had a great time Sunday at our fall show! It was one of our largest shows yet, and we got to see some fantastic riding from our students. Everyone did a wonderful job!

On September 5-7, Emma Holland and Annisette competed in the KHJA Fall Classic at the Kentucky Horse Park in the 2’6″ Special Hunters and the $3,000 Nicholson Insurance Agency Hunter Derby in the 2’6″ division. Against strong competition, Emma and Cookie placed 3rd and 6th in Special Hunters. It was a challenging but rewarding weekend, and we hope to enter more students next year!

Today we took Taylor, Holly, Emma, and Natalie to a show at Lakeside Arena. Taylor and Holly showed Hank, Emma showed Annisette, Mary showed Bruce, and Natalie showed her horse in training, Alex. This show was the first for Holly and Taylor, and Bruce and Alex! Everyone did extremely well, placing or winning in every class we entered. Our green horses were on their best behavior, and the young riders handled everything very well. We are so proud of this wonderful team of horses and riders!
Brenna Heiney took home three 2nd place ribbons in the Robert Murphy Stable Horse Show at the Kentucky Horse Park on July 5th and 6th. Brenna and her horse, Aspen, competed in 3′ jumpers against a large and competitive class. Congratulations to a wonderful, hard-working team!
DeLima Stables welcomes 2 new horses in training. Darcy, owned by Liz Skelton is an 8year old Quarter horse in for training, and Baby, a 3 year old TB owned by Cheryl Schneider, will be joining us on April 1st. Both show lots of promise and will make happy, confident partners for their riders.
I’ve had a few of our dedicated military personnel inquire about lesson prices and boarding. What better way to say a big “thank you for your service!” than to offer a discount to our defenders! So come on down and I will put you thru Horse Boot camp! (expect to be sore)
Everyone be sure to check out the upcoming events page. Dates for horse shows and camps are posted. Remember, camps fill very quickly and in order to get a $50 discount on camps you must register before April 15th. Looking forward to another great season of fun activities with our beautiful equine partners!
