Lessons

A variety of lesson options are available to accommodate beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. All new students start in a 30 minute private lesson, and may move to group classes with other riders of a similar level once they are comfortable with the basics. We accept both junior and adult riders! The minimum age for new students is 8 years old – riding is a very active sport with an element of risk at any level. Students must have the strength and listening skills to follow directions and react quickly. If your child is younger than 8 but has significant prior riding experience, please give us a call to see if we can accommodate you.

Instructor Mary DeLima has over thirty years of experience riding and teaching. She has coached riders of all ages and levels, and works with each rider to assess their goals. Mary has coached casual riders who are training to more safely enjoy horses, as well as competitive riders who are aiming for USEF Grand Prix or USHJA Hunter Derby competitions. While students are not required to compete, they are all expected to work hard and progress in their riding and horsemanship. Students may bring their own horse or use one of our lesson horses – all of the lesson horses at DeLima Stables are experienced and patient, and are a valuable part of our barn family!
